programmes

The Mobilx Vipers Community Foundation is currently working in conjuction with our partners on the following core programmes:

Schools Initiative

The School Programme initiative is designed to utilize the players of the Mobilx Newcastle Vipers and their status as role models within the local community to present, deliver and endorse several key lifestyle messages whilst encouraging participation to local children.  The initiative will take place in 3 key stages: Assembly Visit, After School Participations and Learn to Skate Sessions.  The flexibility of the initiative ensures that delivery of each stage can be tailored to suit the specific needs and requirements of each school.

The School Visit is the first stage of the School Initiative and will take place in Week 1 with delivery of a 60min interactive session including video quiz, equipment demonstration, Q & A session, interactive participation demonstration and delivery of 3 key lifestyle messages (Nutrition, Education and Healthy Lifestyles).

Following on from the School Visit a 4 week Participation Initiative from Weeks 2 – 5 will take place after school lasting 45 – 60mins approx.  The main objectives of the session include; provision of opportunity to participate within a controlled and structured environment and the encouragement of participation and healthy living. The content of each session will be hockey based with participants enjoying specially designed training drills and fun games focused on Ball Hockey and Uni-Hock.  Participants will then have the opportunity to Learn to Skate with members of the Mobilx Newcastle Vipers playing squad.

Junior Development Program

The Junior Development Programme (JDP) is a structured ice hockey training club with regular training and matches which offers participants an opportunity to participate in a healthy activity, learn new skills and encourage social interaction whilst providing life skills.  The objectives of the JDP are noted:

  1. Provide opportunity for participants to become involved in ice hockey via specific activities which encourage participation
  2. Increase the number of participants involved in ice hockey throughout the North East
  3. Provide a safe and controlled environment for participants to have fun whilst learning
  4. Provide organisation and structure where participants receive top quality coaching
  5. Provide financial support to ensure the long term future of the Junior Hockey Club

Our proposal will provide the JDP with an opportunity to generate interest, boost membership and assist its long term sustainability whilst operating as a perfect exit route from the school program

The JDP currently operates with 7 teams the Under 10's, Under 12's, Under 14's, Under 16's, Under 19's, Vipers Reserves, and Lady Vipers. The club co-ordinated by ex Whitley Warriors Peter Winn who is also head coach of the Vipers Reserves.

100% Attendance Scheme

The 100% attendance scheme rewards students who achieve 100% attendance at school and is ran by the Education Welfare department at Newcastle City Council.

This is the first year the Mobilx Vipers have supported the scheme and during the season over 2000 students have attended Mobilx Vipers home fixtures as a reward for achieving 100% attendance over a 4 week period.  The Mobilx Vipers have also promoted the 100% attendance scheme by issuing a series of posters promoting the benefits of 100% attendance, the posters use Mobilx Vipers players as role models to promote the initiative.
